RenewDay Privacy Policy
RenewDay is a manual list of the subscriptions you pay for, with totals and a renewal calendar. This page explains what information the app uses, why, and what choices you have. It is short because we collect almost nothing.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no name or email needed.
- No ads, and no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools inside the app.
- We run no server for this app and we do not receive what you type.
- Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your card or payment details.
- We do not collect, sell or share your personal information.
Who we are and how to reach us
RenewDay is published by Acid Secs Productions Inc., an Ontario, Canada company. For any privacy question or request, email support@asp-inc.ca.
What the app stores on your phone
The subscription names, prices, billing periods, renewal dates, categories and notes you type, and whether Plus is active (remembered on the phone). It is saved in the private storage of the app on your phone. Android backup is switched off for this app, so the app does not copy it to your Google account. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your phone settings, removes it.
Renewal reminders and the calendar button
Renewal reminders are free. The app asks for the notification permission when you set up reminders, and shows the reminders as notifications created on your phone, by default 3 days, 2 days and 1 day before a renewal (you can change this for each subscription). The app uses inexact alarms for this, so it does not need the exact-alarm permission. The app also asks to be told when the phone has restarted or the app was updated, only so it can set your reminders again. The Add to calendar button opens your phone's own calendar app on its add-event screen with the title, notes and date filled in. You decide whether to save it. The app has no calendar permission and cannot read your calendar.
No bank, card or email access
The app never connects to a bank, card, email account or any subscription service. You type everything yourself. It does not cancel or change anything for you. Importing a CSV file (a Plus feature) reads the file you pick on your phone only, and it is never sent anywhere.
What we collect and what leaves your phone
We collect nothing. We do not receive, store or process the information you put into the app. The only ways information leaves your phone are these:
- Only what you choose to send. When you tap Share or Export, the app hands a text or file to the share sheet of your phone, and you pick the app or place it goes to. We never receive it.
- Email. If you tap Send feedback or Contact support, the app opens your email app with a draft addressed to us, filled in with the app version and the Android version. Nothing is sent unless you press send in your email app. If you do, we receive your email address and what you wrote, and we use it only to answer you and fix problems.
- Our website. If you tap Privacy policy or Terms of use, your web browser opens this website, which is hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare may keep ordinary server logs of visits (such as IP address and time), under its own policy.
- Google Play. To offer purchases, the app uses Google Play Billing, which talks to Google Play to show prices, make purchases and tell the app which purchases your Google account owns. The app can also ask Google Play whether a newer version is available and show you an update notice. This happens between your phone and Google, under Google's Terms and Privacy Policy. Nothing is routed through us.
Purchases
RenewDay is free to use. It offers an optional subscription called Plus (Google Play product renewday_pro): CAD $2.99 per month or CAD $19.99 per year in Canada, with a free trial for new subscribers. Purchases are made in the Google Play window, under Google's terms. Google collects and processes your payment details and keeps your purchase records under its own policy. We receive no card data and no purchase records. The app only asks Google Play which purchases your Google account owns, so it can unlock what you bought, and it remembers the answer on your phone so it keeps working offline for a while. Details of price, free trial, renewal, cancellation and refunds are in the Terms of Use.
Permissions the app asks for
- Notifications (optional): to show your renewal reminders. The app asks when you set up reminders, and you can refuse it.
- Run after restart (receive boot completed): so your reminders can be set again after the phone restarts or the app is updated.
- Internet and network state. The app lists the Android internet and network-state permissions. They are added by the Google Play purchase and update components so they can reach Google Play. Our own code has no server to call, no analytics and no tracking, and sends nothing to us.
- Billing (the standard Google Play billing permission): lets Google Play handle purchases made inside the app.
The app does not use the camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendar, storage or exact-alarm permissions.
Third parties
Google Play (downloads, updates, purchases) and Cloudflare (this website) are the only outside services involved. The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools. We do not sell or share your information for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it, but we hold none of your app data to disclose.
How long we keep data, and deleting it
Because your content stays on your phone, you control how long it is kept. Delete entries inside the app, clear the app's storage in your phone settings, or uninstall the app to remove it all. We cannot recover it, because we never had it. Anything you already shared (for example by email or to a cloud drive) is held by the place you sent it, so delete it there. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer you and are deleted on request within 30 days. Purchase records are held by Google; you can see and manage them in your Google account. There is no account to delete, because the app has none.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to know what we hold, to correct or delete it, and to object to its use. We hold no personal information from the app, so there is nothing to sell or share, and we do not sell or share personal information. If you emailed us, you may ask to see or delete that email. Write to support@asp-inc.ca and we will answer within 30 days. If you live in Canada, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; if you live in the EU or UK, you may contact your local data-protection authority.
Children
RenewDay is for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. We do not collect information from anyone. If you believe a child has emailed us, write to us and we will delete it.
Security
Your information lives in the app's private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot normally read on an unmodified phone. Keep your phone locked and updated. Anything that does travel (to Google Play, or to this website) uses encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and a lost or unlocked phone can expose what is stored on it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above. If the app ever starts to collect or send information to us, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and significant changes will be shown in the app.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without affecting any consumer or privacy rights you have in your own place of residence.
