SampleGate Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 27, 2026 · Effective: October 27, 2026 · App: SampleGate (com.acidsecs.samplegate) · Published by Acid Secs Productions Inc., Ontario, Canada

SampleGate is a receiving-inspection helper: it looks up an AQL sampling plan, counts defects against it and keeps your inspection records on your phone. This page explains what information the app uses, why, and what choices you have. It is short because we collect almost nothing.

The short version

Who we are and how to reach us

SampleGate is published by Acid Secs Productions Inc., an Ontario, Canada company. For any privacy question or request, email support@asp-inc.ca.

What the app stores on your phone

Your inspections (supplier, part, lot, defect counts, dimension readings, notes, inspector name), part profiles, report details (company name), the photos you take or pick for an inspection, and whether Plus is active (remembered on the phone). If you use Backup, the backup file you create is also kept wherever you save it. It is saved in the private storage of the app on your phone. Android backup is switched off for this app, so the app does not copy it to your Google account. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your phone settings, removes it.

Photos and reports

You can take a photo of a defect with the camera, or pick one with Android's own photo picker (which gives the app only the photo you select). Photos are saved in the private storage of the app, attached to the inspection. If you create a PDF report or CSV file, it is made on your phone and goes nowhere until you choose an app in the share sheet. Inspection records can contain business information about your suppliers and workplace; you are responsible for sharing them only with people who should have them.

Backup and restore

Backup and restore is free. Backup makes one JSON file of your inspections and part profiles. The file is created on your phone and goes only where you choose to share or save it in your phone's share sheet. Photos are not included in the backup file. Restore reads a backup file that you pick on your phone, and nothing is uploaded. We never receive the file. A backup file can contain business information about your suppliers and workplace, so keep it somewhere safe and share it only with people who should have it.

What we collect and what leaves your phone

We collect nothing. We do not receive, store or process the information you put into the app. The only ways information leaves your phone are these:

Purchases

SampleGate is free to use. It offers an optional subscription called Plus (Google Play product samplegate_pro): CAD $3.49 per month or CAD $24.99 per year in Canada, with a free trial for new subscribers. Purchases are made in the Google Play window, under Google's terms. Google collects and processes your payment details and keeps your purchase records under its own policy. We receive no card data and no purchase records. The app only asks Google Play which purchases your Google account owns, so it can unlock what you bought, and it remembers the answer on your phone so it keeps working offline for a while. Details of price, free trial, renewal, cancellation and refunds are in the Terms of Use.

Permissions the app asks for

The app does not use the microphone, contacts, location or storage permissions.

Third parties

Google Play (downloads, updates, purchases) and Cloudflare (this website) are the only outside services involved. The app contains no third-party advertising, analytics or crash-reporting tools. We do not sell or share your information for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it, but we hold none of your app data to disclose.

How long we keep data, and deleting it

Because your content stays on your phone, you control how long it is kept. Delete entries inside the app, use Delete all my data in the app, clear the app's storage in your phone settings, or uninstall the app to remove it all. We cannot recover it, because we never had it. Anything you already shared (for example by email or to a cloud drive) is held by the place you sent it, so delete it there. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to answer you and are deleted on request within 30 days. Purchase records are held by Google; you can see and manage them in your Google account. There is no account to delete, because the app has none.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (for example under Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to know what we hold, to correct or delete it, and to object to its use. We hold no personal information from the app, so there is nothing to sell or share, and we do not sell or share personal information. If you emailed us, you may ask to see or delete that email. Write to support@asp-inc.ca and we will answer within 30 days. If you live in Canada, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; if you live in the EU or UK, you may contact your local data-protection authority.

Children

SampleGate is for people aged 13 and over. It is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. We do not collect information from anyone. If you believe a child has emailed us, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

Your information lives in the app's private storage on your phone, which other apps cannot normally read on an unmodified phone. Keep your phone locked and updated. Anything that does travel (to Google Play, or to this website) uses encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, and a lost or unlocked phone can expose what is stored on it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date above. If the app ever starts to collect or send information to us, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and significant changes will be shown in the app.

Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without affecting any consumer or privacy rights you have in your own place of residence.
